Welcome to Wandering UK

I grew up in the UK until I was 9 years old. I was born in the North of England, where most of my family still resides, near the area of Liverpool. I now live in Miami, Florida, which is vastly different, of course; however, I still go back to visit the UK as much as I can. In my opinion, it is one of the greatest places. I love giving people advice on where to go, away from the tourism and in more amazing and less common spots. That's why I decided to start up this blog! So, hey everyone! My names Ava!

Whether you're interested in the big cities, hidden small towns, or beautiful views and hikes, the UK offers so many places worth discovering. Angelsey, Wales

 Anglesey is a small island in Wales just off the Northwest Coast, and only about an hour and a half drive away from the northern parts of England. It's known for its breathtaking views, beaches, and ancient sites. When I visited, we took a boat trip out to see Puffin Island! Although we did not see many puffins, as their species is declining, we got to see some beautiful views. This boat trip left from Beaumaris, a small town in Anglesey, filled with lots of cute shops, bakeries, and of course, pubs.  My Aunt Claire and I are enjoying a coffee in a  Pub before our boat trip. Beaumaris map and sign, as you can see, they are known for their puffins! Puffin Island, from the back of the boat as we headed into shore. After exploring the town of Beaumaris, we took about a 30-minute drive to Holyhead South Stack to go on a beautiful but short hike. Port Sunlight

 Port Sunlight is a small town in the Wirral, North England. This town was built in 1888 by William H. Lever for the factory workers of his Port Sunlight Soap factory. This village holds an amazing amount of history and yet is quite unknown. I have loved visiting here over the years and have found new places to explore each time. Furthermore, this town is filled with beautiful architecture from over 30 architects, with over 150 different designs. In this town, there are definitely no cookie-cutter houses, and every building is unique. This was no accident; William Lever purposefully hired over 30 different architects because he wanted to avoid all the houses looking the same. It was clear that Lever valued the quality of life of his workers and their families while building his town.  I got to learn so much more history about this town on my recent visit to England. New Brighton

 New Brighton is another Northern England Wirral area spot that is one of my absolute favorites. As long as I can remember, growing up, we always visited here with my grandparents. New Brighton is the UK's longest promenade and is a beautiful walk down a beach which is lined by the Irish Sea and the mouth of the Mersey. There is a great chippie, lots of restaurants, a beautiful garden to walk through, and even a fun park and arcade open for kids all summer long. One of my favorite things in New Brighton is the Floral Pavilion Theatre, where my Granny and I love to catch a local show. But I think the true beauty of New Brighton is Vale Park.  A view of the lighthouse at the beach.  A photo I took.
